Hello! Welcome/Fáilte to my wee mail club which aims to explore the Scottish languages through lino prints and letters. As of November 30th 2025, Scots and Gaelic were recognised as official languages of Scotland, something that should have been recognised long ago. Supporting their presence and growth is essential to the preservation and continuation of tradition, culture and identity and I felt a great way of sharing these beautiful languages with others could be via a mail club. My hope is that it will encourage fellow Scots and others from around the world to learn something new every month, maybe decide you’d like to give learning them a bash or to simply just appreciate them! OHH and you’ll have a wee stash of original prints too hehe!
Each month, I will choose and research a Scots or Gaelic word or phrase and will base that month’s mail around it. On the 30th of every month, I will send out a letter containing an A5 handprinted lino print, either an A6 print or postcard, a small item like a handmade patch, bookmark or sticker (this will vary) and a wee letter with that month’s word/phrase and a description of it, with some bonus illustrations! I am also aiming to use mainly secondhand materials (where possible!) so not every envelope will be exactly the same.
The mail will be posted at the end of each month and will be available to sign up to until the 20th of every month.
